It took me a while to finally work my way through the final season, likely because I didn't want to say goodbye to Deborah, and hell, even Ava. Season 5 does a lovely job of reminding us how far these two funny women have come on their HACKS journey, and, in Deborah's case, in her comedic journey far before HACKS found her in Las Vegas, in need of a good writer, but fighting Ava tooth-and-nail.
The final season reminds you that these women used to hate each other, but by the time they're dancing to "About Work the Dance Floor" in the series finale, you're wondering how they could live without each other. The finale is a little corny, but it's definitely earned and I can't stop thinking about it.
I will also really miss this show's incredible Hollywood and LA jokes. I used to cover Paleyfest events and the portrayal of the Paley event brought back visceral memories.
